A Wedding in Florence

Grand piazzas, renaissance atmosphere with touches of baroque here and there, offerings ranging from the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo, to the The Pitti palace and Piazzale Michelangelo….Florence is a Museum town and the collections and art available here easily surpasses those of any other Italian city. This is the city where Genius manifests itself. For centuries, Florence was the European centre of modern civilisation and paved the way for a complete cultural movement and it changed so many things and its influences are still felt to this day. A wedding in Florence is all about you becoming part of this wealth of culture and art.

Florence provides couples with a range of fantastic options and it is one of those places which is easy to get to, with 2 airports, Pisa and Florence and good rail and bus networks, the way is set. We start our Florentine journey with the town hall. What can I say and what words can describe it. Dramatic, a room which exudes formality and grandness with red carpets and drapes, a reminder of the past glory of Florence. For some it can be considered over the top however there is something about the Sala Rossa which keeps it down to earth, however you can start feeling a little Medici-like !!! Add to this the atmosphere of the main Piazza della Signoria where the Palazzo Vecchio is located and you have really do have pure magic, it does feel glorious. If you are after a Catholic wedding, there are a range of magnificent churches where this is possible most of them located in the historical centre so very easy to get to. There are also many churches in the smaller towns close to Florence, places like Fiesole where it is also possible to have a catholic wedding and the transfer period is anything from 15 to 30 minutes, so you could hold your ceremony here and have a country setting or rolling hill setting and then head back into the arms of Florence for your reception and party…. as Florence does know how to party!!!

A wedding in Florence can also be enjoyed from the terraces of a suite, a garden with a panoramic view over the Florentine rooftops, a private villa or palazzo with frescoed ceilings … whether you want just a civil or a Jewish wedding, a Greek Orthodox or Protestant ceremony, whatever your requirements it is all possible here in this wonderful city. Once the ceremony is over, you are spoilt for choice regarding where to go and eat, you can be as simple and as relaxed as you like or alternatively you can aim for formal, Florence lends itself entirely to this and is one of those flexible type of places where everything goes.
